About Laljee Verma

Dr Laljee Verma, Ph D graduated from PW Medical College, Patna in 1963 and joined the medical services of the armed forces the same year. Having served in the forces for about 4 decades he retired in the rank of Air Mshl from the post of Dir Gen of Medical Services in Aug 2002.He was awarded Ai Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) by the President in 2001.

Apart from being a pioneer of hospital waste management in India, Laljee Verma is a well-known poet and author. His interest is poetry in Hindi and English, he has an inquiring mind, keeps questioning even the obvious, and tries to find answers. Of late he has been researching and writing mostly on philosophical topics. Science and philosophy are well blended with Laljee Verma, a rare combination indeed! He has sumptuously contributed to Hindi and English literature, and for the contribution to Hindi Literature, he was awarded with ‘Premchand Smriti Puraskar’.
